This game is called Petals Around the Rose. It is a devil of a puzzle, as well as a fun measure of intelligence; more intelligent people usually take more time to decipher it.
The rules are simple: I will roll the dice, and then you will try to tell me what the score is. The score will always be zero or an even number. Let me demonstrate.

This game is likely more difficult for "smarter" people because they are overwhelmed by the endless possibilities their minds are able to conjure -- or so I like to think. I'll give you one last roll for now and if it is a miss, we can revisit this puzzle later.
